Five Key Features of P6 Professional Release 23.12
This latest version introduces several valuable enhancements. Let’s delve into the key features of P6 Professional 23.12.
Enhancements to Project Checker:
The Project Checker dialog box now includes two additional options, allowing users to limit checks to severity 1 and 2, and to report only errors found by the report. The report itself has been improved with a breakdown table at the top, facilitating easier navigation to specific check types and severity levels. It’s worth noting that Project Checker must be enabled during database configuration, except for SQLite. Admin Superusers and Project Superusers with appropriate access can utilize the Project Checker.
Direct Data Paste from Excel:
Users can now seamlessly paste data from Microsoft Excel directly into P6 Professional spreadsheets cells. This feature streamlines tasks such as planning future period assignments. Conversely, users can copy cells from P6 Professional spreadsheets and paste them into Excel.
Enhanced Project Import:
Users no longer require the Project Superuser profile to import XLSX files into a project. As long as the user has a global security profile with the Import XSLX privilege, they can import XLSX spreadsheets.
Improved CPP Export:
P6 Professional now allows exporting projects and baselines to CPP format, even when connected to a SQLite or PPM database, or in offline mode when connected to an EPPM database. Users can create export templates for CPP format and manually map CPP fields.
Automatic Renaming of Duplicate Calendars:
Duplicate calendars are automatically renamed with a unique identifier to prevent accidental creation, resolving an issue present in previous versions.
In Summary:
While not revolutionary, Oracle’s release of P6 Professional 23.12 brings welcomed improvements. The top three features users are likely to appreciate include the ability to paste data directly from Excel, enabling any user to import projects from spreadsheets, and the enhanced Project Checker functionality.
