BI PUBLISHER FOR PRIMAVERA P6

When it comes to reporting, Oracle BI Publisher for Primavera P6 helps create the solutions people and projects need. Using BI Publisher for Primavera P6, you are able to author, manage, and deliver the necessary reports and documents in ways that are easier and much more efficient compared to other more traditional tools.

Before you get started, taking a minute and familiarizing the way that BI Publisher handles report will be necessary. P6, as you know, populates the list of reports from Report Definitions that come loaded from BI Publisher’s web services. When you need to create, edit, or modify a report, you will use BI Publisher and its tools.

BI Publisher requires documentation to be specific, which is why in regards to Data Models, writing should be in SQL queries and data templates. For parameters, include types Text, Menu, Date, and Boolean, work with the “List of Values,” and include different settings. Plus, give the template feature a try.

As you’re starting out, keep these steps in mind:

1. Login with BIP Security admin credentials and impersonate a P6 user.
2. Connect to the P6 EPPM Extended Schema with the PXRptUser.
3. You can add many other data sources for reports.

Note: When it comes to reporting, Oracle suggests using P6 EPPM Extended Schema database. The Primavera Data Warehouse is an optional add-on component to P6 EPPM, which supports Analytics, third-party reporting tools, off-line analysis, and the consolidation of P6 data into larger corporate data warehouses.
